Stanley Johnson was signed by the Los Angeles Lakers amid shortage of players that was caused by multiple players being out due to health and safety protocols.

The 25-year-old forward was on a 10-day hardship contract but could become a permanent member of the team if the Lakers decide to keep him. The team’s head coach Frank Vogel called Johnson a “factor” but did not give out the plans for him.

“I don’t know in what real detail I can go into that other than we still hope to have him back first for some more games,” Vogel said. “All those answers will reveal themselves over the next few days. But right now it’s still up in the air.”

A recent report suggests that there is a mutual interest between Johnson and the Lakers. So far he has played 5 games for the purple and gold averaging 6.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 25.2 minutes per game.
