Packers QB takes a shot at Vikings over bizarre pregame hype tweet

Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Kurt Benkert took a shot at the Minnesota Vikings over Twitter after their decisive win at Lambeau.

It was the Packers who had the final say in their game against the Vikings, but it was Kurt Benkert who had the last laugh against Minnesota’s hilarious failure at a hype tweet.

After the Packers beat their rivals, 37-10, Benkert decided to have fun with an oddly-animated pregame tweet that the team’s Twitter account sent out before the game.

In a “Let It Go” parody, a humanoid figure constructed of cheeseblocks croons about Lambeau, cheese and Wisconsin. Then, a figure wearing a Vikings helmet turns on a heater, which melts the surrounding ice — even though the figure leaves on a Polaris snowmobile.

The message is entirely unclear here, and Benkert wasn’t alone in struggling to understand what all of this meant.

Even Vikings fans couldn’t help but ridicule their team, likening the animation to what one would find on a bowling alley monitor in the 1990s.

The Vikings loss stung beyond the outdated animation, as it nixed any hope they had of making the postseason. The club could not afford to lose to the Packers or Bears in their January games, so now the 7-9 group has nothing but a middling draft spot to anticipate for the next few months.

Although Kirk Cousins is out with COVID, it looks like Mike Zimmer isn’t particularly interested in seeing Kellen Mond take over next week versus the Bears. Meanwhile, Packers fans are celebrating another NFC North title before another expected win over the Detroit Lions on Jan. 9.

Another week of winning for the 13-3 Packers, another week of losing for the 7-9 Vikings. At least with Minnesota eliminated from the playoffs, fans won’t have to face another heartbreaking loss: on the field or on social media.
