Was Kirk Cousins benched? Vikings fans furious at QB

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins was not benched. Instead, his vaccination status came back to haunt him.

Yes, vaccinated individuals can still get COVID-19, but the likelihood of being infected is far greater when said person opts out of that defense system. Cousins has opted not to get vaccinated, which while his choice, also gives Vikings fans the right to be angry with him for missing a relatively large moment in their season.

Cousins didn’t want to explain himself in training camp, citing the familiar personal decision argument.

“I want to respect what other people’s concerns are. For me personally, just talking no one else can get the virus, what is your concern if you could get it, I would say I’m gonna go about my daily life. If I get it, I’m gonna ride it out. I’m gonna let nature do its course. Survival-of-the-fittest kind of approach. And just say, if it knocks me out, it knocks me out. I’m going to be OK. You know, even if I die. If I die, I die. I kind of have peace about that,” Cousins said.

If he dies, he dies? Obviously we hope that’s not the case, as Cousins was placed on the COVID-19 list earlier this week, making him ineligible for Sunday Night Football against the Packers. But his decision-making could cost the likes of his head coach, Mike Zimmer, and his assistants their jobs.

Did Kirk Cousins get benched?

No, Cousins was not benched. Instead, he contracted COVID-19. There’s no way of knowing if he still would’ve gotten the virus were he vaccinated, but it sure would’ve helped his odds.

Vikings fans aren’t happy with their quarterback, who as the highest-paid member of the team, ought to be available in big games such as a contest where the Vikings playoff hopes are on the line.

In Cousins’ place, the Vikings decided to start quarterback Sean Mannion over rookie Kellen Mond out of Texas A&M.
