Boston Celtics vs Miami Heat Live

The Boston Celtics need a win to get to even, but right now it could go either way. Three quarters in and their offense has really been able to impose its will, dominating the Miami Heat 96-73 three quarters in.

Boston has been riding high on the performance of small forward Jayson Tatum, who has 27 points and five assists in addition to five rebounds. One thing to keep an eye out for is Jaylen Brown’s foul situation as he currently sits at four.

Miami has been led by small forward Jimmy Butler, who so far has 29 points along with seven boards.

The Heat have lost 78% of their games in which they were down going into the fourth quarter. Barring a miraculous turnaround, this matchup will end the same way.

Boston vs Miami

Current Records: Boston 0-1; Miami 1-0

What to Know

The Miami Heat’s homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Boston Celtics at 8:30 p.m. ET May 19 at FTX Arena. The Heat are out to keep their ten-game home win streak alive.

Miami is hoping for another victory. They strolled past Boston with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 118-107. Small forward Jimmy Butler was a one-man wrecking crew for Miami, picking up 41 points and five assists along with nine boards and three blocks.

Miami is the favorite in this one, with an expected 3.5-point margin of victory. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a three-game streak of ATS wins.

Miami’s win brought them up to 1-0 while the Celtics’ defeat pulled them down to a reciprocal 0-1. Two defensive stats to keep an eye on: The Heat have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 44.70%, which places them fourth in the league. But Boston is even better: they have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 43.40%, which places them first in the league. We’ll see if that edge gives Boston a route to victory.

The Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat have been battling it out in their Eastern Conference semifinals matchup for two games now. On Monday, the two teams battled it out for Game 1. Without Joel Embiid, the Sixers put up a good fight in the first half but couldn’t hold on.

After taking on a loss on the road in Game 1, the Sixers got the following day off before they faced the Heat for Game 2 on Wednesday night. Once again, the Sixers played without Embiid. And similar to Game 1, the Sixers had a lot of fight in them but not a lot of success from beyond the arc.

While the Sixers shot slightly better from deep in the Game 2 matchup on Wednesday, they still took on a double-digit loss when it was all said and done. Now, the Sixers are back home as they are currently in an 0-2 hole.

There is hope that on Friday night, the Sixers can get in the winner’s column with a Game 3 victory. Plan on tuning in to watch the Sixers and the Heat battle it out for Game 3? Here’s everything you need to know!

Anthony Edwards explains his argument with head coach Chris Finch

The Minnesota Timberwolves earned a big win over the Los Angeles Clippers (122-104). Young star Anthony Edwards led the winners with 28 points in 33 minutes.

But it wasn’t all that good for the 20-year-old forward who was bench early in the first quarter by head coach Chris Finch for his poor defensive effort. In response to the substitution Edwards had some words to Finch which resulted in a heated argument between the two.

After the game Edwards revealed what happened between and Finch and admitted to being wrong. “I get mad for sure. I be wanting to say something to him. But it’s pointless. He right. Can’t do nothing but be better when I get back in,” he said, per Chris Hine.

“For sure. That’s why I said he right. I get mad, but he right. At the end of the day I can’t do nothing but take the constructive criticism and come back and show him that I can do it.”

Alvin Gentry hurls blame in NBA rule book about mysterious jump ball in Kings-Lakers clash

Photo: Lachlan Cunningham/Getty Images

In a hilarious fashion, the Sacramento Kings are victims once again of an unfortunate, unexpected event.

In what could be a crucial possession which they could use to trim the Los Angeles Lakers’ deficit in the dying seconds of their match on Wednesday, game officials mysteriously called a jump ball after the ball was left untouched by De’Aaron Fox upon Malik Monk’s miss from the charity stripe. While on the deadball, it was seen that there were few tenths being diminished — one of the possible main motives of the officials’ decision — which flipped things around in a controversial way.

Obviously, interim coach Alvin Gentry was fuming while arguing from the sidelines about the ridiculous decision.

And in his postgame media availability, Gentry didn’t vent his frustration against the referees, but he instead directed it on the NBA’s rule book.

“It’s a horseshit rule in the NBA,” Gentry said, via Greg Beacham of the Associated Press. “The referees did what they were supposed to do. It’s the rule that needs to be changed. We didn’t start the clock. It wasn’t our error. We got punished for a dumbass rule.”

“There’s no way in hell that that ball shouldn’t have been in our possession.”

Meanwhile, the NBA Twitter world has been sympathizing for Gentry and the Kings after the controversial call. Indeed, it was a controversial scenario and the rule is now a major subject for scrutiny.

Way back in 2018, the Lakers and the Orlando Magic were in an almost similar situation. Forward Mario Hezonja gave a lob pass to teammate Aaron Gordon to try to give the Magic an upperhand, as the Purple and Gold were leading (108-107) with 0.6 remaining in the 4th period. Suddenly before even Gordon touched the ball, L. A. ‘s clock operator pushed the button which burned the remaining tenths of a second that resulted from the buzzer and a wild conclusion that the Lakers had won. Due to what happened, officials overturned and decided for a jump ball since the shot clock shouldn’t have been turned on while on the dead ball. Eventually, the Lakers prevailed which sparked a huge disappointment in the Orlando camp.

The Kings gained its 23rd loss this season, while the Lakers are firmly holding the 7th spot in the West with an improved 20-19 record. The two California-based ball clubs are scheduled for another marquee showdown on Jan. 13.

Chauncey Billups, Blazers hints a possible Damian Lillard shutdown this season amid abdominal issues

The Portland Trail Blazers are having a hard time finding the ideal groove this season. With franchise main men Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum currently conditioning from injuries, further worsened by an abysmal 14-22 record, head coach Chauncey Billups delivered an enticing update that the Portland faithful need to look into.

In the details provided by Sean Highkin of Bleacher Report this Tuesday, Billups said that the Blazers management will have a discussion “soon” about Lillard’s recovery status, and possibly the team’s direction moving ahead.

Further, Billups noted that shutting down the superstar point guard this 2021-22 is an option if ever there’s no progress yet in its abdominal injury.

“I think that’s probably going to be the route that we go if he doesn’t get some kind of relief there.”

As the Rip City are slowly sliding and two games away from the Play-in tournament of the ever-competitive Western Conference, the decision that will come up soon must be regarded as highly-anticipated. As such, Lillard’s perspective will play a huge impact in his team’s newest plan this season.

As suggestions of soft rebuild like roster retooling, surrounding their homegrown superstar some complementary pieces, and snatching a prized lottery pick in the upcoming draft are being handed and buzzing on the Blazers hub who is currently facing gigantic hindrances, the result of the talks within the ball club soon is truly exciting.

Knicks’ Kemba Walker receives encouraging update on knee injury

Kemba Walker has missed the Knicks’ previous games after re-injuring his surgically repaired knee. There were fears he could need another surgery, however, Tom Thibideau revealed a crucial update on Walker’s situation.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, there is nothing structurally wrong with Walker’s knee. That doesn’t mean he will return soon, as he will need time to rest.

Tom Thibodeau confirmed the development recently:

“Yeah, it came back positive, so just general soreness,’’ Thibodeau said referring Walker’s knee. “So, it’ll be day-to-day. We want everything to calm down with him.”

In the last six games with Walker in the lineup, the Knicks went 4-2 after Tom Thibodeau decided to bring him back in the rotation amid COVID-19 struggles.

Walker is averaging 13.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game during this season. It’s still unclear when he will be able to get back in action.

As the Los Angeles Lakers are currently shuffling their deck for a much better pursuit in title contention, head coach Frank Vogel has revealed one of his plans.

And it is all about the currently sidelined combo guard, Kendrick Nunn.

As reported by ESPN correspondent Dave McMenamin, Vogel said prior to Lakers’ clash against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday that the 26-year-old Nunn will take a hefty exposure once it finally clear from unavailability.

Nunn, who hasn’t played yet with the Lakers this regular season due to a bone bruise dating back in October, is getting closer to a return as told also by Vogel on Monday. Still, the franchise will look into adjustments and how the young guard will blend alongside LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook.

“We’ve got to throw him into the mix and see what he looks like in our system before we can make any real determinations of what his role is going to be,” Vogel said, per Harrison Feigen of SB Nation. “But we love what his game is. To shoot the three, to playmake in the pick-and-roll game, and also to be a second-side attacker when you’ve got Bron, Russ and AD with the basketball. He’s a talented young man, and somebody we really think can help us.”
